What is a bath bomb for kids?
Bath bombs for kids makes bath time a whole lot of fun. Your kids will be excited to experience bath time as their fizzy bath bomb dissolves in the water and makes it colorful. This bubble bath bombs recipe combines the fizzing excitement of a traditional bath bomb with the bubbliness of a bubble bath. Due to the concentration of fragrance oils in this recipe, I recommend it is used with kids aged 6+ years.
Is it safe for kids to make bath bombs?
The bath bomb mixture includes natural oils and is safe for kids. However, if you know that your kids are sensitive to any of the ingredients then you can substitute them for another similar item. Almond oil should not be used if your child has a nut allergy or sensitive skin and in this case, I would suggest using another oil that you know is safe such as grapeseed oil or olive oil.
Scent and Oils
These bath bombs have a fun bubble gum scent due to the combination of oils used. However, this simple DIY bath bomb recipe can be adapted by using a different oil of your choice. I would advise sticking to the quantities of oil given so that you do not cause any skin irritation when you use the bath products.

Molds
The best bath bombs for older kids will be made with bigger molds. To save the additional cost of buying lots of fancy molds, a great option is to look in your kitchen for silicone baking molds. You could even use some cut down yogurt pots or similar plastic pots. Another option would be to ask your friends or neighbors if they have any nice molds that you can borrow then you can make lots of different shapes.
Getting the mixture right so that it sticks together
You will know if the mixture is too wet because it will stick to your fingers or the mold. In this case, try adding some more baking soda or citric acid until it comes good.
If the mixture is too dry, it won’t stick together. It will be crumbly and hard to hold. In this case, add a little more almond oil.

Using the bath bombs
For best results, put the kids into the bath first. Then slide or drop the bombs into the bath water with a gentle movement. The perfect bath bomb will bubble and fizz and color the water with a pale color. Get the kids to swish the water about to create more bubbles. You can always add a few drops of food coloring to the hot water if the color is not as strong as you would like.
You can opt to drop the bombs into running water and this will certainly produce more bubbles. However, your kids will probably spend more time viewing the fizzing reaction than actually being in the bath whilst it is taking place. It’s your choice.
Gifting
You must keep the bombs dry after you have made them. They do make great gifts at Christmas and for birthdays. A great way to present them is to wrap them in some tissue paper and then place them into a small gift box.
Another option would be to buy the ingredients listed here and some pretty molds, then print the recipe.
