If you’re looking for some fun fall crafts for your kids, then I have a full tutorial on how to make puffy paint pumpkins for you.

It’s fun to celebrate Fall and Halloween with your kids by visiting the pumpkin patch and taking a hayride. Sometimes, though, you want something to do at home together or maybe it’s a rainy day. Craft projects are a fun way to spend a day at home whilst celebrating the season. They can be a good way for younger kids to join in with Fall decorations when they are not old enough to do pumpkin carving.
The puffy paint recipe is simple to make and includes ingredients that you probably already have a home. If not, they are cheap to buy at the dollar store. Homemade puffy paint has a unique look and dries with a 3D texture so that the end result is impressive.
I have a free pumpkin template that older kids might prefer to use.

Of course, you can freestyle your own pumpkin shape if you prefer.
Puffy Paint Pumpkins

Materials:
1 cup foamy shaving cream
¾ cup school glue
Orange food coloring
Printed Pumpkin on cardstock
Cinnamon sticks for the stem of the pumpkin
Optional: construction paper
Tools:
Paint brushes
Popsicle stick for mixing
Instructions:

- In a medium bowl, mix the shaving cream, ¾ cup of glue, and a few drops of orange food coloring until incorporated.

- You now have puff paint which should look like this.

- Using a paint brush, paint the pumpkins orange including the stem.

- Cut a cinnamon stick in half and place it on top of the pumpkins to make the stem.
- Set pumpkin to dry

- Once the pumpkin is dry, cut it out and paste it on a piece of construction paper.
Making orange slime with leftover paint

If you have a bunch of paint left over you can turn this into slime

Add 2 Tbs contact solution and 1 teaspoon baking soda to your puffy paint and stir until orange slime forms.
Notes:
- It is best to paint the pumpkins on cardstock
- Black construction paper makes the pumpkins really stand out
- If you do not want to make slime you can store paint in an airtight container.
- Make sure your contact solution has boric acid or slime will not work
- You can use a q-tip to clean up the lines on your pumpkin or leave it the way it was created.
You can display your paintings alongside real pumpkins in your front porch if you can place them in a weatherproof spot. Alternatively, stick your puffy paint pumpkins up indoors as part of a small pumpkin display.
For a different Fall Craft Idea for older kids or teens, you could make 3D Paper Pumpkins.

Hi,
For the puffy paint “recipe” that you included, how many pumpkins can be made?
Thank you,
Its makes around 4 if you use the template I’ve given you and print it on US letter paper. You need to put the paint on quite thickly to get a good texture
