American Flag Cookie Cake Recipe
Servings 12
Prep: 10 minutes| Cook Time: 15 minutes | Assembly Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
1 package Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie mix
½ cup butter (room temperature)
1 egg
2 cans of whipped frosting
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

Method:

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 9×13 baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

- In an electric mixing bowl add sugar cookie mix, room temperature butter and egg

- Blend with the paddle attachment until well incorporated. If you don’t want to use an electric stand mixer, you can also put the ingredients into a medium bowl and use an electric hand mixer or beat the mix with a large fork.

- Transfer dough to a large rectangle baking sheet and press until even across.
- Poke the dough with a fork to ensure even baking

- Bake for 15-20 min or until golden brown and place on a cooling rack

- Once cooled, frost a thin layer of frosting across the entire cookie

- For cake assembly, arrange the blueberries in the top left corner
- Lay sliced strawberries overlapping in lines to look like the red stripes of the flag
- Take leftover frosting and put it in a large piping bag
- Cut the corner of the bag and pipe in a zigzag motion to make white stripes in between the strawberries to make the flag design
Serve or refrigerate until ready. Get an adult to cut the whole thing into portions with a sharp knife.
For best results, eat as soon as possible after making. However, you can store leftovers of your American flag cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days. In warm weather, it would be best to store it in the fridge and get it out about an hour before you want to eat it.
This is a fun way to get kids involved in patriotic celebrations. Who knows? it may even become an annual tradition!
